India has always been a staunch supporter of the Philippines in its efforts to preserve its national sovereignty. In a recent statement made by the country's external affairs minister, S. Jaishankar, India reiterated its unwavering support for the Philippines and its stance on the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. The Spratly Islands, have been a source of contention among several countries in the region, including China and the Philippines. China has been accused of asserting its territorial claims over the islands, which has led to tensions between the two countries. In light of the recent flare-up of tensions between Beijing and Manila, India has once again voiced its support for the Philippines and its efforts to uphold its national sovereignty. The country has called for all parties involved to exercise restraint and resolve the issue through peaceful means.

However, Beijing strongly reacted  to this comment and have suggested that the maritime issues should be dealt by the countries concerned and no other country should interfere. Seeing the age-old tensions between China and India, China made it very clear that it is not happy with India’s support to Philippines and wants India to stay away from any type of influence and interference.
